Understanding and updating plot journey stages
What are journey stages?
Every plot progresses through a lifecycle as a buyer moves from initial interest through to living in the home. Guided Home tracks this with five journey stages, and uses these stages to control which documents, guides, and content are visible at any point in time.
The five stages
- Pre-Reservation β Early interest. The buyer is exploring but has not yet committed.
- Reservation β The buyer has placed a reservation on the plot. This is an intent to purchase, not a legal commitment.
- Exchange β Contracts have been exchanged. The buyer is legally committed to the purchase.
- Completion β The sale is complete. Keys have been handed over and legal title has transferred.
- Aftercare β Post-handover. The homeowner is settled in and the development team provides warranty and aftercare support.
Why stages matter
Guide categories and document packs can be configured to appear only from a specific stage onwards. For example, you can publish aftercare guides that are only shown from Completion, or reservation guides that appear as soon as a buyer reserves.
Viewing and updating a plot's stage
There are two ways to view and update journey stages:
- Buyers Journey table β Navigate to Customers β Buyers Journey to see all buyers and their current stage across your sites. Update stages directly from this view.
- Plot detail page β Open an individual plot and update the journey stage field in the plot details panel.
