Logging a defect

A defect records a single issue found on a plot, so it can be prioritised, assigned and tracked to resolution.
How to use it
- Open the inspection for the plot (Quality → Inspections & Defects → click the inspection).
- On the Inspection Details screen, click New Defect.
- Complete the defect form: Defect name (a short, clear title), Issue description, Priority, Issue Type (required), Room and Fitting, fixture or appliance, and an Assignee (optional at this stage).
- Add photos where you can — they make the issue unambiguous for whoever resolves it.
- Save the defect.
What happens next
The defect appears as a card on the inspection (with its ID, priority badge, age and status) and is counted in the home-screen tiles. New defects start Hidden from resident and Unassigned until you choose otherwise.
Common questions
Why is Issue Type required but Priority isn't?Issue Type drives reporting and routing, so it's mandatory. Priority can be set or refined later.
Will the resident see the defect straight away? No. A defect is hidden from the resident until you turn on Visible To Resident on the defect — see Assigning a defect and keeping the resident informed.
